Easement Information

Frequently, Warren RECC must access remote pole locations during a power outage or service call. Due to this, we maintain an easement or right-of-way around our facilities. Maintaining a clear path to potential problems is a must in our effort to preserve reliable power. Over and above retaining access, our high voltage power lines are not insulated and direct contact may result in serious injury or death by electrocution. A tree contacting a power line can also become energized, injuring someone touching the tree.

These are reasons enough for Warren RECC to require easement space around its power lines. Certain distances related to our power lines (See Below) give us the needed access and provide a buffer from potential vegetative interference.

Easements are there to protect the power lines, people, and to support consistent service. They were accepted by the property owner before the electric service was built. Be sure they are considered when plants are being situated on the property. When planting a tree or shrub ... Look Up! Avoid planting trees under power lines. Also, bear in mind that there are 10 feet easements around our underground facilities. It may occur to you to surround a transformer with shrubs or other decorative plants, but avoid putting such plants too close. Trees or shrubs that are too close to the overhead or underground lines may be trimmed or damaged by utility workers who need to access the related facilities.
