WRECC Scholarships
High School Scholarship Program
Warren RECC provides college scholarships to five high school students in its service area each spring. Interested candidates may apply through their school guidance counselors or Warren RECC's Member Services Department.
Each year in conjunction with our Annual Membership Meeting, Warren RECC award scholarships as follows:
- Three or more $1,500 scholarships
- Two $500 scholarships
Criteria for eligibility for these scholarships are:
- Student must be a graduating high school senior and reside with a parent or legal guardian who is a member of Warren RECC.
- Student must enroll in a full-time course of study no later than the fall semester of the year in which the scholarship is awarded.
- Scholarship recipients are required to attend their local high school Awards Program and Warren RECC’s Annual Meeting for introduction and recognition.
Scholarship applications will be available from senior guidance counselors after March 1, with a deadline of mid-April for applications to be postmarked.
The 2006 Scholarship winners were:
- Natasha Miller, Ohio County High School - $1,500
- Kyle King, Warren Central High School - $1,500
- Constance Clark, Butler County High School - $1,500
- Crista Ross, Warren Central High School - $1,500
- Jared Clemons, Grayson County High School - $500
- Brian Soverns, Grayson County High School - $500
W.I.R.E. Scholarship (Women in Rural Electrification)
Scholarship is for $1,000
This scholarship is provided by an organization of electric cooperative employees, director’s and manager’s wives, etc. It is paid directly to the college or university chosen by the winning applicant. It is for $1,000 and qualifications are:
- Student’s family must be served by a Kentucky rural electric cooperative.
- Student must be a full junior or senior in college with at least 60 hours of credit at the beginning of the fall semester.
- Student must attend a Kentucky college or university.
- Student can be either married or single to apply.
