Understanding Your Electric Bill

You will receive a bill each month for the amount of electricity you use. Meter readers read your meter at approximately the same time each month, and your bill is computer-generated based on this reading and mailed to you.

Warren RECC uses 20 billing cycles each month. These cycles are geographically arranged to make meter reading as efficient as possible. Your billing date is determined by your location within these billing cycles. Your actual billing date will vary monthly because of weekends and holidays. If you do not receive your bill near the normal billing date, call Warren RECC. If you pay the bill within 14 days of the billing date, you may pay the AMOUNT NOW DUE/NET PAY as indicated on the bill. If you pay after this date, you pay the AMOUNT DUE AFTER (date indicated on bill)/GROSS PAY. This larger amount includes a five (5) percent penalty. Your account is credited when payment is received at Warren RECC. Delays caused by the postal service do not affect the date your bill is due.

Automatic bill payment by your bank is available through our Auto-Pay service. At your request, we will submit the monthly bill to your bank for payment from your checking account. You will also receive a copy of the bill for your records.

BILLING TERMS
Most information on your electric bill is easily understood, but here are a few terms that might require further explanation:

AMOUNT DUE AFTER (DATE)/GROSS PAY
This amount is due if the bill is not paid within 14 days after the bill is rendered. A five (5) percent penalty is added to the current month's charges.

AMOUNT NOW DUE/NET PAY
This is determined by the number of kilowatt-hours of electricity consumed, multiplied by Warren RECC's electric rate. It is the cost of the electricity used plus applicable taxes, previous balance and other miscellaneous charges. This amount is due when your bill is rendered. There is a 14-day period during which it may be paid without a five (5) percent penalty.

DEFINITIONS:
MEMBER NUMBER
Your member number is used for billing purposes. Please use this number when contacting Warren RECC to discuss any billing problem.

This is a unit of measurement of electric power. Commonly referred to as demand, this quantity is a measure of the maximum power required in any given 30-minute period of time.

(kWh) KILOWATT-HOUR
This is a unit of measurement for electric energy. A kilowatt-hour is 1,000 watts used for one hour. As a reference, a 100-watt light bulb operating for 10 hours would use a kilowatt-hour of electricity.

MAP NUMBER
The map number indicates your location within the Warren RECC service area. It is listed on your electric bill and your electric meter. Please use this number when contacting Warren RECC to report an outage or other service problem.

MERCURY VAPOR / POLES

SODIUM

POLES
This is the monthly charge for any poles that Warren RECC sets at member's request.

TAXES
Local government regulations in all eight counties of our service area require collection of a three (3) percent utility tax which is paid directly to the Board of Education in each county. There is also a six (6) percent sales tax added to non-residential accounts.
